W H A T   I S   S A R A G O S S A ?

name:  Andrea Rosen

role:  An innocent lady named  Alice, who is guilty of a heinous crime, and she’s upbeat about the entire thing.

what is SARAGOSSA about: blood and love and the sky.

what was your shoot like:  My shoot was windy and there was a German guy there who was just visiting the States, a tourist, and he ended up working the boom, he was the art department pa, the crafts service guy, and the still photographer.

name:  Christine Turner

role:  Abelle... a world weary French hotel maid... as usual, I was typecast.  I am so tired of only being cast for my accent and fluffy towels.

what is SARAGOSSA about:  Hmmm... the print on my script was too tiny to read. I had to buy a pair of reading glasses at CVS just to read my scene and the director has still not reimbursed me for that.  Plus, I had to try on a uniform in a dressing room and the curtain would not fully close.

what was your shoot like:  I spent a day in a hotel room.  It was very pink... almost vagina-esque.  I had to hold towels AND act.  I wore something on my head.  I was acting with a TOTAL stranger and yet, we had to PRETEND to be co-workers... did I mention that I also had to carry towels while I did all of this?  Also, there was a man in his underwear lying on the bed.

name: Patricia Buckley

role:  Veronica, I think.

what is SARAGOSSA about:  I think it's about red stuff seeping into other differently colored stuff which stands for something like whatever is symbolized by red seeping into whatever is symbolized by white.  Or pink.  Or purple.

what was your shoot like:  I remember after we shot it the first time we discovered there was a framed picture in the office where we shot and you could see the crew in the reflection.  I thought it was cool and self-referential and very hip, but we had to shoot it again anyway.  So we waited a year and then got another office and did it all over again.  I think you can still see the crew in the mylar balloons.   If you REALLY look.  But if you're looking that close you'll probably think it's cool and hip and self-referential.

name:
Carolyn Cohagan

role:  A chick who just dumped her boyfriend

what is SARAGOSSA about:  The complex interweaving of our formed experiences, or coffee, I'm not sure which.

what was your shoot like: There had been a blizzard the day before and the director wanted lots of snow, so we went to a park in Brooklyn with snow up to our armpits.  I hadn't felt my legs for about four hours and the director kept saying, "It's really not cold.  Isn't it weird how not cold it is?"

name:
 Martin Dockery

role:  Philanderer (and presidential hopeful?)

what is SARAGOSSA about:  Time travel!

what was your shoot like:  I was dying for most of my shoot.  Gaping bullet hole in my stomach.  I thought, "Rats. Should've side-stepped instead of ducked."  My character was searching for some weighty, meaningful last words.  Prior to the shoot (so to speak), I'd memorized The Gettysburg Address, but then the director told it wouldn't be appropriate.  I say, Good enough for Lincoln, good enough for me.  In the sequel, I hope to play a president.

name:
 Amanda Byron

role:  Sourine, the sexy and pinky maid.

what is SARAGOSSA about:  France?  or maybe the olympics.

what was your shoot like:  it was the fourth of july...and really hot.  but we got to be in an air conditioned hotel room and we had to pretend that we were there to shoot a "documentary".  or was that a "cockumentary"?  it was fun and we had to write some of our lines on cue cards...just like REAL movie stars.

name:
 Chris Kauffman

role:  Guy who got dumped

what is SARAGOSSA about:  absurd reasoning that seeks to establish relationship between causes and effects...or...all this crazy shit led up to me getting dumped.

what was your shoot like:  two shoots: one hiding from the Prospect Park authority, the other hiding from the Greenwood cemetery authority.

name:
 Charlotte Thompson

role:  annoying sister of the depressed kid.

what is SARAGOSSA about:  i don't know what the whole movie was about, but the part i saw was about this kid who had to part with his best friend (his puppet).

what was your shoot like:  i had to pretend to fight with my little sister over a stuffed animal, while Eliot was sobbing in the other room over a puppet. then my "mother" got all freaked out and started to yell and kind of get hysterical.

name:
 Eliot Thompson

role:  a kid whose best friend is a puppet who's leaving

what is SARAGOSSA about:  weird relationships

what was your shoot like:  um, it was easy, i had to do things many times, lots of people i didn’t know.

name:
 Nellie Kurtzman

role:  Sylvia - the enraged wife to deadbeat philanderer Sherman.

what is SARAGOSSA about:  I think this film is yet another funny, quirky, thought-provoking short from Mr. Prendergast.  I get his sense of humor - which helps.

what was your shoot like:  It was on the roof of Martin's apartment, the actor who plays Sherman -- husband to my character Sylvia.  I remember that it was very cold and that my role required me to portray full on hysterics.  It wasn't much of a stretch.

name:
 abby thompson

role:  a sister who is anoying

what is SARAGOSSA about:  i do not know

what was your shoot like:  i was soposta be a girl who fout with her sister about a stuffed animal

name:  Katie Hare

role:
 Petey's Mom

what is SARAGOSSA about:
Memories,  maids, and in my case, mascara.

what was your shoot like:
Ahhh yes... I remember... a large house in Brooklyn, I think it was, (yes?) brimming with very talented and adorable children.  They were nice enough to let me come in and sit around, even though I had to yell at them later on.  When the script calls for yelling, I yell, adorable or no, it doesn't matter to me.  I hope they understand that I was ACTING and actually found them refreshing and cute, and that it was only as my CHARACTER that I was up to my eyeballs and wanted to hang them by their toenails. The shoot was memorable in that it was my first -- ever -- and I became convinced I would trip, fall down the stairs, and it would all be caught on film.  I don't think that happened.  If it did, I blacked out and have selective amnesia about the whole thing.

name:  Gene Wynne

role:
Klaus

what is SARAGOSSA about:
This question is similar to The Blind Man & The Elephant. It could be very like a rope or like a tree trunk. From my narrow perspective this appears to be a black comedy about the effect of a suicide on the survivors, but it also could be a comedic explanation of " Why suicide"

what was your shoot like:
It was very hot outside and the AC was terrific inside. I remember thinking to myself that it's a pretty good gig when one gets paid for laying in bed.  While in bed in my underwear playing dead, a couple of strange women came into the room I thought that it has been quite a while since non-spousal women came into my bedroom.  It did; however, bring back some good memories... I actually found the whole experience very pleasant, and the people very nice. The latter incidentally, is not a given at a shoot.  I'm looking forward to viewing the video.
